Pop culture and fandom convention with celebrity guests, comic artists, cosplay championships, gaming, a film festival and anime programming.
PopCon Indy returns to the Indiana Convention Center from Friday, March 26, through Sunday, March 28, 2027. It's Indianapolis' pop culture and fandom convention, and if you've been to Gen Con or Indiana Comic Con, this one sits in a different spot: it's smaller than those two, but it's known for a strong community feel. It pulls together fans of comics, sci-fi, fantasy, anime, cosplay and gaming, and the programming reflects that mix.
Inside, you'll find celebrity guests from film, television, sci-fi, fantasy, superhero and anime properties, alongside comic artists and a cosplay championship. There's a gaming arena, a film festival, anime programming and an artist alley of independent creators. The celebrity and panel lineup usually comes out closer to the event, so that's the part to keep an eye on as the date gets nearer. Past editions have hosted guests like Sean Astin, Billy West and Patrick Warburton.
One of the things that makes it distinct is what happens outside. The stretch of Georgia Street between the Convention Center and Lucas Oil Stadium has become the convention's unofficial cosplay showcase, where people hang out and show off their work. It positions itself as a fun, accessible alternative to Gen Con, with a broader pop-culture reachโthink comic cons meets gaming meets anime conventions.
