Marvelous Magnetic Bookmarks

Marvelous Magnetic Bookmarks is coming to the Lawrence Branch on Saturday, November 7, from 11 AM to 12 PM. It's a craft workshop for school-age children, and the whole point is to walk away with a custom magnetic bookmark you made yourself. During the hour, kids work through several different art techniques to design and assemble their bookmarks, and along the way they get a little lesson in how magnets actually work. The result is a one-of-a-kind piece of functional art they can use every day.

If you're not familiar with the venue, the Lawrence Branch has a bit of a story. It first opened in 1967 on North Franklin Road, taking over a storefront that used to be the Lawrence Post Office. That made it the first branch to open within an incorporated town in Marion County. A larger, permanent 13,500-square-foot facility opened in 1983, and the branch was renovated in 2020. It's located at 7898 Hague Road in Indianapolis, 46256.

It's a straightforward morning session: school-age kids, an hour of making, and a useful little gadget to take home. The workshop runs from 11 AM to 12 PM on Saturday, November 7, at the Lawrence Branch.
