Family concert by Dr. Sugarbomb, who turns into different characters with his original songs about nature and gratitude, as part of the library's Family Concert Series.
Dr. Sugarbomb is playing the Lawrence Branch on Saturday, October 31, from 11 AM to 11:45 AM. It's part of the library's Family Concert Series, which is aimed at kids ages 3 to 10 and the adults who love them. The whole thing is made possible by the Family of Michael O'Brien through gifts to The Indianapolis Public Library Foundation.
Sugarbomb calls himself the "Doctor of Silliness," and that's a good starting point for what he does. He performs original songs about nature, gratitude, play, and finding the worlds within. The real hook of the show is a condition he calls S.N.A.P., which he says turns him into completely different characters throughout the performance. He describes it as silly on the surface, but surprisingly deep all the way through.
The Lawrence Branch itself has a bit of a story. It opened in 1967 on North Franklin Road in a storefront that used to be the Lawrence Post Office, which made it the first branch to open within an incorporated town in Marion County. A new 13,500-square-foot facility opened in 1983 and was renovated in 2020. It's located at 7898 Hague Road in Indianapolis.
