Community block print workshop led by artist Kassie Woodworth, inviting library patrons to create a collaborative artwork for the US 250th anniversary.
Kassie Woodworth brings her collaborative print project, In Unison, to the Nora Branch of the Indianapolis Public Library on Saturday, October 24, from 2 PM to 4 PM. It's part of the Making Together series, and the whole point is that you don't just watch it—you add to it.
Here's how it works: Woodworth rolls out a ten-yard length of paper and sets up hand-carved stamps and printmaking ink. Anyone who stops by can pick up a stamp and leave their own mark on the roll. The project is titled In Unison because it's meant to mirror a murmuration—those huge, fluid clouds of starlings that move together as one. As more people contribute, the individual marks build into a larger, shared image.
The Making Together series is part of the commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States. The idea is to bring people together around a collaborative art project that reflects on civic life and the shared American experience, with each visitor's contribution becoming a small part of the whole. This particular piece is in memory of Ken McCune, by Karen McCune.
