Annual holiday candlelight show in which classic Charles Dickens Christmas tales come to life through the rooms of the historic Benjamin Harrison presidential home.
A Dickens Christmas returns to the Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site on December 11, 12, and 13, 2026. It's the site's annual holiday show, and it's part of their Candlelight Theatre season—a performing arts series staged inside the rooms of the house rather than on a conventional stage. The production brings classic Charles Dickens holiday tales to life, and instead of sitting in one spot, the audience journeys from room to room through the historic presidential residence as the story unfolds. The show leans on humor, wonder, and timeless holiday lessons to carry its narrative.
Because it's part of the Candlelight Theatre season, the performance is built around the house itself. The rooms of the home serve as the set, and the movement between them is part of the experience. It's a different way of seeing a play than you're used to—you're inside the space rather than watching it from a distance. The site is at 1230 North Delaware Street in Indianapolis.

There's a nice connection to the house, too. Among the nearly 3,000 books in the collection of the 23rd president, Benjamin Harrison, you'll find several of Charles Dickens' works. So the tales being performed are tied to the books that were actually in the home. The show runs December 11, 12, and 13, 2026, at the Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site, 1230 North Delaware Street, Indianapolis, IN 46202.
