Hands-on workshop for preschoolers at the Southport Branch of the Indianapolis Public Library where they build something to take home.
Little Sprouts is back at the Southport Branch of the Indianapolis Public Library on Monday, October 26, from 10:30 AM to 11:15 AM. It's a hands-on workshop for preschoolers, and the whole point is that the kids get to build something and take it home with them. If you've got a little one who likes to tinker, it's a good way to spend a Monday morning.
The session is made possible by the Everwise Foundation through gifts to The Indianapolis Public Library Foundation, so it's one of those community-supported programs that keeps the library's kids' calendar full. It's a short session—just 45 minutes—which is about the right length for that age group before they start getting restless.
If you're not familiar with the branch, the Southport Branch has a bit of a history in the neighborhood. It started back in 1967 as a small storefront in the Madison Square Shopping Center, and the current 15,700-square-foot building opened in 1974 on East Stop 11 Road. Even before that move, a group of Perry Township residents raised more than $5,000 to buy extra books for the new building, so the place has been a community effort since the beginning.
