30th anniversary celebration of the Latin Dance Party with dancing, live music, dinner and drinks on the patio, and late-night tacos and empanadas.
The Jazz Kitchen is celebrating the 30th anniversary of its Latin Dance Party on Thursday, October 17, at 5377 N. College Ave. in Broad Ripple. The party has been a fixture of the venue since 1995, when The Jazz Kitchen first established itself as a spot for Latin dancing, food, and summer nights in Indianapolis.
It's known around here as Thursday Latin Nights, and it runs from 6 PM to 2 AM. The night starts on the patio with dinner and drinks before the dance floor opens, and there are free dance lessons every week, so you can get your footing before you commit to the floor. Resident DJs Gil and Mambo Sound handle the music, with occasional guest DJs joining in. They spin salsa, merengue, bachata, reggaetรณn, and Latin hip-hop, and the party keeps going well past midnight.

If you're planning to stay late, there's a reason to hang around: fresh tacos and empanadas are served from 10 PM onwards. Between the food on the patio and the late-night kitchen, you can make a full evening of it without ever leaving the building. The 30th anniversary celebration falls on a Thursday, just like the weekly nights that built it up over the last three decades.
