Introduction to searching for grant funders at the Indianapolis Public Library Central Library.
Intro to Candid Search: Finding Grant Funders is coming to the Indianapolis Public Library on Wednesday, October 28, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. It's a two-hour session focused on one specific, practical skill: how to find grant funders using Candid Search.
If you're working on a nonprofit or a community project, you've probably hit that wall where you know what you want to do, but you aren't entirely sure who would actually fund it. That's where this comes in. The session is an introduction to Candid Search, the tool the library provides to help you dig through grantmaker data and find the foundations and organizations whose funding goals align with your work. Instead of guessing or relying on random leads, you'll see how to use the database to build a targeted list of potential funders.
It's a hands-on kind of afternoon, and because it's at the library, you'll be working in a space that's built for this kind of research. You don't need to be a grant-writing pro to get anything out of itβthe whole point is that it's an introduction, so it's a good place to start if you're new to the process or just haven't used Candid Search before.
