Reunion show of the Minneapolis indie-pop quintet Hot Freaks, with support from Thesaurus Rex, at Turntable in Broad Ripple.
Hot Freaks play Turntable on Saturday, November 21, with Brooklyn indie rock band Thesaurus Rex opening. Doors open at 7 PM and the show starts at 8 PM.
Hot Freaks are a Minneapolis indie-pop quintet who released their self-titled debut in 2013. It was ten tracks of bright, danceable pop with a glossy disco sheen and vulnerable lyrics that drew comparisons to Voxtrot, MGMT and of Montreal. They rarely toured beyond the Midwest and became a beloved local staple before amicably disbanding in 2015, with frontman Leo Vondracek and guitarist Darin Dahlmeier splitting while the members stayed close.
During the pandemic, their 2013 single "PUPPY PRINCESS" went viral on TikTok, which sparked a reunion and a return to the stage. They're coming back with new material, new visuals, and a reissue of the rare 2013 b-side "PAYCHECK 2 PAYCHECK."

Support comes from Thesaurus Rex, a Brooklyn indie rock band who, according to the billing, "actually invented indie-rock in 2022" after waking up from a chicken-parm induced food-coma. All guests must be 18+ with a valid government-issued photo ID. Turntable is at 6281 N. College Ave. in Broad Ripple.
