Holiday-themed craft workshop for families with children ages five and older, using found objects and art supplies, with a short story before making.
The Michigan Road Branch of the Indianapolis Public Library is hosting a Holiday Whimsy Workshop on Saturday, November 7, from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM. It's a family-oriented craft session aimed at families with children ages five and older, and the whole thing kicks off with a short story before the making begins.
The project itself is open-ended: you'll be creating whimsical art that celebrates family holidays and traditions, using a mix of found objects and art supplies. There's a choice in how you approach it, too. You can work together as a family on a single collaborative piece, or everyone can make their own individual one. Since it's built around your own traditions, what you end up with depends on what your family's holidays actually look like.

If you haven't spent much time there, the Michigan Road Branch is a 20,000-square-foot library that opened in December 2018. It was built to increase access to services and collections in the area, and it has dedicated spaces for children, teens, and adults, more computers than the smaller branches, and a large community room. The workshop runs from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM on Saturday, November 7, at 6201 North Michigan Road.
