One-hour live concert by the local Encomium Ensemble, part of the Indianapolis Public Library's Circulating Sound concert series.
Encomium Ensemble plays the Garfield Park Branch on Saturday, November 7, as part of the Circulating Sound Concert series. It's a one-hour live set, running from 2 PM to 3 PM.
Circulating Sound is a series the Indianapolis Public Library runs to bring live music by local artists into its branches across the city. The performers draw from a variety of musical styles, genres, and communities from across Marion County, so the lineup changes from one stop to the next. This particular afternoon features Encomium Ensemble.
The venue itself has a bit of a story. The Garfield Park Branch was formerly the Shelby Branch, and its roots go back to 1918 when the library occupied old School No. 34. A new building opened in 1965 at its current Shelby Street location, and after a major renovation it reopened in 2011 as the Garfield Park Branch—renamed at the request of residents who wanted the library to share the name of the park next door. It's located at 2502 Shelby Street, Indianapolis, IN 46203.

The concert is open to all ages, so it works as a family outing as much as a solo trip. It was made possible in part by The Indianapolis Foundation Library Fund, through a grant to The Indianapolis Public Library Foundation. Encomium Ensemble takes the stage at 2 PM and plays through 3 PM.
