Chair yoga and mindfulness session with Lisa Daugherty, recommended for seniors and adults, with brief meditation at the end.
Lisa Daugherty leads a chair yoga and mindfulness session at the Glendale Branch of the Indianapolis Public Library on Tuesday, November 10, from 2 PM to 3 PM. The class is held at 3660 East 62nd Street in Indianapolis, and it's geared toward seniors and adults.
Chair yoga works by connecting breath to stretches and gentle movements, and because you stay seated, it's a way to get moving without needing to get down on a mat. The session focuses on posture, flexibility, balance, and strength, along with mind-body awareness—the kind of things that help with steadiness and confidence in your day-to-day. Throughout the hour, intermittent meditative music plays in the background, and the class closes with a brief meditation to wind things down.
The program is made possible by The Indianapolis Public Library Foundation with support from Honda. If you find yourself wanting to learn more after the session, the library suggests checking out the book lists Every Body Yoga and Fit Lit: Every Body Yoga.
