Free one-on-one career assistance session at the Spades Park Branch of the Indianapolis Public Library to help adults with resumes, job searches and applications.
The Indianapolis Public Library is hosting a Career Center session at the Spades Park Branch on Wednesday, December 2, from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM. It's a free service for adults, and the whole point is one-on-one help with the parts of a job search that usually feel like a chore: drafting a resume, hunting for jobs or careers online, and working through those long online applications. If you're in the middle of a transition or just looking for something new, it's a good place to get a second set of eyes on your materials.
This isn't a one-off thing, either. The library runs Career Centers at several branches across the city, so if this particular date doesn't work, there are other sessions. And if you can't make it in person, there's free online job coaching through Brainfuse JobNow, which is available every day from 2 PM to 11:59 PM. With a library card, you also get unlimited access to professional and technology skills on LinkedIn Learning, so you can pick up a new tool or brush up on a skill on your own time.
The session is at the Spades Park Branch, located at 1801 Nowland Avenue in Indianapolis. It's a Carnegie library, built with a $120,000 grant from the Andrew Carnegie Foundation and opened in 1912—six months after the city's other remaining Carnegie, the East Washington Branch. The 7,500-square-foot building went through a $610,000 renovation in 1987 and celebrated its centenary in 2012. The Career Center itself is made possible by Friends of the Library through gifts to The Indianapolis Public Library Foundation.
