Block Party story time for children at the Central Library of the Indianapolis Public Library.
Central Library is hosting a Block Party story time on Saturday, November 21, from 10 AM to 11 AM. It's one of the many kids' programs the library puts on, and this one is held on the third floor.
If you're not familiar with the building, the Central Library is the hub of the Indianapolis Public Library system. The original 1917 structure was designed by Paul Cret and built from Indiana limestone in the Greek Doric style, and it was once considered one of the most outstanding secular buildings in the U.S. A six-story glass and steel-framed addition by Evans Woollen opened in 2007, so it's a mix of the old limestone and the newer glass.
The library runs a wide range of programs for babies, toddlers, preschoolers, school-age kids, and teens. Storytimes are offered for babies and toddlers, preschoolers, and all ages. They also do StoryWalks, where you stroll through a park and read books displayed in mounted frames along the way. During these sessions, the library keeps a selection of sensory items available to support participants with sensory needs.
