Annual 5K and 10K race honoring Apollo 7 astronaut Walt Cunningham, with a family fun run for children 12 and under, at Space Center Houston.
The Walt Cunningham Angels' Race for Space returns to Space Center Houston on Saturday, October 24, from 7 AM to 9 AM. This is the race's fourth annual edition, presented by the Ray Schlaff Family, and it runs rain or shine.
The event honors the memory of Apollo 7 astronaut Walt Cunningham and raises money for Be An Angel, a Houston nonprofit that supports children with multiple disabilities and profound deafness. They provide specialized equipment, hearing devices, respite care, and other essential services for these kids, and the race proceeds go toward the special needs children Cunningham loved.
There are several ways to get involved, depending on how much running you're in the mood for. You can sign up for a 5K or a 10K, with timed and untimed options for both. If you've got little ones, there's a Family Fun Run—about a kilometer long and meant for kids 12 and under. And if you can't make it to the Space Center in person, there's a virtual race option so you can still participate from wherever you are.
