Team Astana

Team Astana are playing Matchbox 4 at the Houston Midtown Arts & Theater Center on Tuesday, October 27. It's a comedy concert led by Daniyar Zhumadilov and the rest of the team, and if you've never heard of them, they're one of Kazakhstan's most well-known comedy groups. They first made a name for themselves as KVN Premier League champions and have since become regulars on major television projects, eventually building their own concert shows. They've played to capacity crowds across Kazakhstan, the CIS countries, Europe, the US, and Canada.

The show mixes the team's best acts with new material, musical numbers, improvisation, and live interaction with the audience. The improvisation and audience interaction are a big part of the night, so it's not just a set of rehearsed sketches. The whole thing runs about two hours.

Matchbox 4 is part of the Houston Midtown Arts & Theater Center at 3400 Main St, in the heart of Midtown. Doors open at 6:30 PM, and seating opens around 30 minutes before showtime, so you'll have plenty of time to get settled before the 7:30 PM start. One thing to keep in mind: no outside food or drinks are allowed inside. If you're planning to go, getting there a bit early is a good call so you're not rushing in right as it starts.
