Pete Yorn performs a solo acoustic concert celebrating the 25th anniversary of his debut album 'musicforthemorningafter'.
Pete Yorn plays The Heights Theater on Friday, October 23, in a solo acoustic set celebrating the 25th anniversary of his debut album, musicforthemorningafter. It's a stripped-back way to revisit the record that put him on the map.
That debut came out in 2001 on Columbia Records and went RIAA Platinum. At the time, critics drew a few different lines to explain the sound: Bruce Springsteen's blue-collar introspection, Lou Reed's deadpan stream-of-consciousness, and the jangling guitar-pop of The Smiths. SPIN called him one of his generation's best songwriters. He's called it his extraordinary debut, and this show is built around it.
Since then, Yorn has released eight more solo albums and landed nine Top Ten hits at AAA radio. He's collaborated with Frank Black, Peter Buck, Liz Phair, and Scarlett Johansson—the 2009 duet they recorded, "Break Up," went Platinum in France. He's appeared on Letterman, Fallon, Kimmel, Ellen, and Good Morning America, and played Coachella, Bonnaroo, Glastonbury, and Austin City Limits. He also made his big-screen debut in Martin Scorsese's Killers Of The Flower Moon in 2023.

His most recent album, All The Beauty, came out in 2025 and was recorded with Jackson Phillips, who also goes by Day Wave. Yorn described it as being about finding gratitude and peace after anxiety, depression, and getting sober. The Heights Theater is at 339 W 19th St in Houston; doors open at 7 PM and the show starts at 8 PM.
