Live blues rock performance by North Mississippi Allstars at The Heights Theater in Houston.
North Mississippi Allstars play The Heights Theater on Thursday, November 19, 2026. The band is led by brothers Luther and Cody Dickinson, who started the group back in 1996 as a loose collective of musicians from their North Mississippi home. They grew up around their father, Jim Dickinson, and the local musical elders of the region—names like RL Burnside, Junior Kimbrough, Otha Turner, and Fred McDowell—and that North Mississippi sound is exactly what they've built their career on.
Luther's first national tour was the 1997 RL Burnside Ass Pocket of Whiskey tour, which sold out shows across the US and Canada. The band started touring in their own right in 1998, and the lineup has shifted over the years. It's included Cedric, Duwayne, and Garry Burnside, Chris Chew, Berry Oakley Jr., and Oteil Burbridge. These days, the group features Joey Williams of the Blind Boys of Alabama and Ray Ray Hollowman, who has played guitar for Eminem and Ne-Yo.
Since their 2000 debut album, they've shared the stage with Phil Lesh, Mavis Staples, Robert Plant, John Hiatt, the Allman Brothers, The Black Crowes, Buddy Guy, Snoop Dogg, and Jon Spencer. They've also earned multiple Grammy nominations for their experimental albums of what they call "Modern Mississippi Music."
