Concert by singer-songwriter Karla Bonoff at The Heights Theater, featuring her classic hits and new material.
Karla Bonoff plays The Heights Theater on Sunday, February 21, 2027. If you've spent any time with the West Coast singer-songwriter tradition, you've likely heard her work without even knowing it. Born in Santa Monica in 1951, Bonoff is one of the finest songwriters of her generation, and for a long time, her songs were most famous in other people's voices. Bonnie Raitt, Wynonna Judd, Lynn Anderson, and Linda Ronstadt all recorded her writing—Ronstadt in particular took on "Someone To Lay Down Beside Me," "Trouble Again," "All My Life," "Falling Star," and "Goodbye My Friend," the latter of which won a Grammy.
Bonoff stepped out as a recording artist in her own right with her debut album in 1977, and her song "Personally" reached number 19 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the summer of 1982. Early on, she sang background vocals for Ronstadt and Wendy Waldman, and she's a member of the currently inactive group Bryndle, alongside Waldman and Kenny Edwards. After a long gap, she returned with Carry Me Home in 2019, her first new album in over a decade, and followed it in late 2020 with Silent Night, her first holiday collection, which made the New York Times Best New Holiday Albums of the Year. She also appears in the Linda Ronstadt documentary The Sound of My Voice.
