JD Simo and Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears perform live at The Heights Theater, blending Hill Country blues with garage rock.
JD Simo and Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears play The Heights Theater on Wednesday, November 4. Simo is the main feature, and he's performing as the JD Simo Duo with drummer Adam Abrashov. Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears round out the bill.
Simo has built a name as one of the more sought-after guitarists working today, with Guitar World, Vintage Guitar, and Paste all noting how he blends Hill Country blues with psychedelic textures. He's played with a wide range of names—Jack White, Tommy Emmanuel, Phil Lesh & Friends, Stevie Nicks, Paul McCartney, and Beyoncé—and he played every guitar part on Baz Luhrmann's Elvis soundtrack. He was also tapped as the guitarist for Chris Isaak's 2025 tours.
Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears have been on the national scene for over a decade, known for gut-bucket blues guitar and propulsive live sets rooted in the garage and the blues. They've shared stages with Sharon Jones, Charles Bradley, Cedric Burnside, and Lightnin' Malcolm. The Heights Theater, built in the 1920s, was renovated and reopened in 2016 as a live music venue.
