A moody folk concert featuring Cat Clyde and Dean Johnson at The Heights Theater in Houston.
Cat Clyde and Dean Johnson co-headline The Heights Theater on Sunday, November 22, as part of a tour across Western Canada and the US. The bill pairs two voices from the moody end of folk: Clyde's bluesy, river-deep croon and Johnson's hushed, honeyed ballads, set in the theater's acclaimed acoustics on Houston's Northside.
Cat Clyde is a MΓ©tis Canadian alt-folk artist whose fourth full-length album, Mud Blood Bone (Concord Records, March 2026), blends folk, Americana, rock and country. It was produced by Drew Vandenberg, and No Depression named it one of the best albums of 2026 so far. She wrote parts of it while living a nomadic life in a 1973 Boler trailer on an Ontario farm and on a narrow boat in England.
Dean Johnson is a Seattle singer-songwriter and guitarist who released his debut, I Hope We Can Still Be Friends (Saddle Creek), after years behind the bar at Al's Tavern in Wallingford; he broke out at age 50 with 2023's Nothing For Me Please. Both Clyde and Johnson were named to the National Independent Venue Association's 2026 Live List of rising acts.
