Illustrated talk by author Stacy Ann Milford on unusual and remarkable places in Nova Scotia, with Q&A and book signing.
Stacy Ann Milford brings her latest work to the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic on Tuesday, October 27, for an illustrated talk titled Beyond Peggy's Cove: Discovering Nova Scotia's Remarkable Places. It's part of the Tuesday Night Talks, a free series of evening presentations running from October 13 to November 24 at the museum.
Milford is an author, and the talk focuses on the unusual and remarkable places scattered across Nova Scotiaβthe kind of spots that usually get overlooked in favour of the big tourist draws. She'll be presenting with illustrations to go along with the stories, so you'll get a look at these places as well as hear about them. After the talk, there's a Q&A where you can ask her about the spots she's covered, followed by a book signing if you want a copy of her work.
If you're not familiar with the Tuesday Night Talks, it's a run of free presentations held on Tuesday evenings throughout the autumn. This one falls toward the middle of the series, which stretches from mid-October through to late November, with different speakers taking the floor each week. It's a good way to spend a Tuesday night in the city without having to commit to a full evening's ticket.

The talk starts at 6:30 pm, and admission is free. One thing that's worth keeping in mind is that the museum itself offers free admission after 4 pm, so you can wander through the galleries before the presentation begins. Between the free entry to the museum and the free talk, it's a low-stakes way to spend a few hours downtown.
