Conversation with the five 2026 Giller Prize finalists about their novels, moderated by Amy Smith as part of the Between the Pages series.
The 2026 Giller Prize shortlist authors are coming to the Halifax Central Library on Wednesday, November 4, for a conversation as part of the Between the Pages series. It's a rare one: all five finalists on one stage, talking through their work together rather than separately. The night is moderated by Amy Smith, co-host of CBC Nova Scotia News.
The five authors on the shortlist are Tara Gereaux, who wrote Wild People Quiet; Michelle Good, with Eliza Sunshine; Nicholas Herring, Your Breath in Charcoal; Nazanine Hozar, The Small Ones; and Patmeena Sabit, Good People. The shortlist itself was announced by the Writers' Trust of Canada, and it brings these five Canadian writers together for the evening. If you've been keeping up with the Giller this year, these are the titles that made the cut.

Halifax isn't the only stop on the tour. Beyond the city, the finalists are appearing at live events in Calgary, Ottawa and Toronto, so this is one of a few chances to hear them in person. The conversation takes place in Paul O'Regan Hall, inside the library, and starts at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 4.
