Spontaneity: A Horror Musical

Spontaneity are bringing a horror musical to the Imperial Studio at the Neptune Theatre, 1800 Argyle Street, with shows on Thursday 3, Thursday 10, and Sunday 13 September. It's part of their Improv the Musical series, and the whole thing is made up on the spot.

They're drawing on horror-comedy musicals for this one, and they've billed it as a one-night-only creation. Because it's improv, that's literally true: every single performance is a different show, built from scratch in front of the audience. They're promising screams, laughs, eerie songs, and unexpected twists—the kind of turns that catch the improvisers themselves off guard. If you go to more than one, you'll see two completely different musicals.

The Neptune's Imperial Studio is a smaller, more intimate space than the main stage, which works well for something that relies on the room reacting in real time. It's right in the heart of downtown, so it's easy to get to whether you're coming from the North End or the South End.

There are three dates to choose from: Thursday 3 September at 6:30 pm, Thursday 10 September at 6:30 pm, and Sunday 13 September at 3:30 pm. Tickets are C$15, and since each night is a one-off, you'll get a different version of the show depending on which one you pick.
