A beginner-friendly outdoor Latin dance night featuring a free salsa lesson followed by social dancing with salsa, bachata and other Latin rhythms.
Salsa on the Waterfront returns to the Halifax Waterfront on Friday 18 September, one of those outdoor Latin dance nights that's grown into a summer tradition around the city. It's held at Salt Yard Social, 1603 Saltyard Wy, and runs from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
The night follows a simple, low-barrier format. It opens with a free beginner-friendly salsa lesson, so you can pick up the basics before the social dancing takes over. From there, the floor fills with salsa, bachata and other Latin rhythms, with the harbour as the backdrop. You don't need a partner to join in, and you don't need any previous experience either โ the lesson is there to get you moving regardless of where you're starting from.
It's the kind of evening that brings together locals, visitors and the Latin dance community in an inclusive atmosphere, and it's a good way to see the city's growing Latin dance scene in person. Whether you're coming for the lesson or just to dance, it's an outdoor affair right on the water.
