Outdoor Latin Dance Night

Salsa on the Waterfront returns to the Halifax Waterfront this Friday, August 28, for another outdoor Latin dance night. It's a summer tradition around here, and this one takes place at Salt Yard Social, 1603 Saltyard Wy, from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm.

The night starts with a free, beginner-friendly salsa lesson, so you can pick up the basics before the social dancing kicks in. After that, the floor stays open with salsa, bachata and other Latin rhythms playing as you dance overlooking the harbour. You don't need a partner to join in, and you don't need any prior experience either, so it's as easy to drop into as it is to stay for the whole evening. The crowd is a mix of locals, visitors and the Latin dance community, and it's built as an inclusive, friendly atmosphere.

One of the best parts is the timing: with the harbour right there, it's a popular way to watch the waterfront sunset while you're on your feet. The lesson runs early, and the social dancing carries on through the night, so you can come for the instruction and leave whenever you've had your fill.
