An outdoor Latin dance night on the Halifax Waterfront featuring a beginner-friendly salsa lesson and social dancing overlooking the harbour.
Salsa on the Waterfront returns to the Halifax waterfront on Friday, July 31, for an outdoor Latin dance night. It's hosted at Salt Yard Social, 1603 Saltyard Wy, in downtown Halifax, and runs from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
The night is built around two distinct parts. It opens with a free, beginner-friendly salsa lesson, which is designed to get you moving even if you've never stepped foot on a dance floor before. Once the lesson wraps, the evening shifts into social dancing, with the dance floor overlooking the harbour. The two parts run back-to-back, so you can start with the lesson and stay for the social, or just show up later when the dancing is already in full swing.
One of the best things about the setup is that you don't need a partner to join in, and you don't need any previous experience. The beginner lesson is there specifically for people who are new to salsa, so it's a low-pressure way to pick up the basics before the social dancing takes over. From there, it's about the music and the dancing, with locals, visitors and the city's Latin dance community coming together on the waterfront.
