A collaborative city-building experience where visitors create a custom, co-created city using various building materials in a shared third space.
Teichert Gallery is hosting Block to Block – Build a Micro City on Saturday, October 17, as part of the Nocturne Group Show. It's not a traditional exhibition where you just stand back and look; it's a collaborative city-building experience. The gallery provides a variety of building materials, and visitors are invited to use them to build a custom, co-created city right there in the room.
The whole thing is framed around connecting with the people around you through a shared experience, with the goal of re-invigorating and breathing life into "third spaces" — those community spots that aren't home or work. Since it's a group show, the city grows as more people stop by and add their own pieces to the mix, so what you see changes depending on when you walk in.
It's a good one to bring a friend along for, since the building part is meant to be done together rather than in isolation. You can spend as much or as little time as you like adding to the city, and the focus is more on the act of making it with others than on any finished product.
