Singer-songwriter Isabelle Foster performs at The Carleton as part of the Halifax Urban Folk Festival 2026.
Isabelle Foster plays The Carleton on Sunday 27 September, as part of the Halifax Urban Folk Festival. She's the host for the afternoon, and the showcase is HUFF's Youth Songwriters' Circle, which is now an annual event celebrating its fifth anniversary, presented in association with Marine Drive Talent Management.
Foster is a Halifax-based Canadian-Italian singer-songwriter whose songs run from relatable, emotional ballads to upbeat road-trip tracks. She draws influence from Lizzy McAlpine and Olivia Rodrigo, and her writing has been shaped by years spent living in Thailand, Malaysia, Fiji, and Canada. Her artistic journey started in Fiji, where she performed as a guest artist before a large audience at the Benefit for Tonga Music Festival at just 11 years old. Since then, she's played across Nova Scotia, including Canada's Teen Jam, and sang the Canadian national anthem to a crowd of 8,000 at the 2026 Men's Hockey U Cup Gold Medal Game at the Halifax Scotiabank Centre.
Her debut EP, Cooler on the Coast, came out in May 2026 and looks at the rollercoaster of growing up as a teenager today. It's the record she's working from these days, and you'll hear it come through in the set. The showcase itself is the Youth Songwriters' Circle, which has become a yearly fixture of the festival, and this year marks its fifth anniversary.
