Indigenous Glass Art Experience with Tribal Fusion Art

Tribal Fusion Art is running an Indigenous glass art experience at the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21, with sessions offered twice a month year-round. It's a three-hour session that combines museum admission with a guided tour of the artists' installation, Welcome to Turtle Island, and a hands-on mosaic glass workshop.

Tribal Fusion Art is a partnership between First Nations fused and stained glass artists Melinda Robertson and Shannon Monk, each with more than 20 years mastering the craft and with studios on Nova Scotia's South Shore and in Cape Breton. The workshop is grounded in Mi'kmaw, Anishinaabe and Anisininew teachings, including the Seven Grandfather Teachings: Love, Respect, Courage, Honesty, Humility, Wisdom and Truth. It opens with a prayer and smudging ceremony and closes with a cultural closing ceremony; you leave with your finished piece and a DIY Indigenous Mosaic Art Kit.

Pier 21 is where nearly one million immigrants landed, and the museum shares over 400 years of immigration history, with Mi'kmaq presence, knowledge and resilience central to those stories. The experience runs in partnership with the museum, so the tour and the workshop sit within that context.

It's C$185.00 plus HST per person, with a reduced rate of C$165 plus HST for youth, seniors 65 and over, and military and veterans. Advance booking is required. The sessions run twice a month year-round, starting June 9, 2026, with dates including August 18 and 27, October 1 and 16, November 14 and 28, December 20, January 23, February 6 and 20, and March 5 and 20.
