A vibrant celebration of Lebanese culture, cuisine, music and traditions with live entertainment, dabke dancing, a souk market and cooking demonstrations.
The Halifax Lebanese Festival returns to the Olympic Community Centre from August 27 to 30, and this year is a bit of a milestone: it's the 25th anniversary of the festival. For over two decades, it's become one of the city's summer traditions, turning the North End centre into a celebration of Middle Eastern culture. This edition is presented by TD and run by the local Lebanese-Canadian community.
The heart of the festival is the food. Volunteer-run stalls serve authentic Lebanese dishes, and there are cooking demonstrations throughout the weekend. Alongside the food, you'll find live Arabic and contemporary music and performances of dabke, the traditional Lebanese folk dance. There's also a recreated souk market with handmade crafts and imported goods, and a dedicated kids' zone for families.
It's the kind of event that brings different parts of the city together — families reunite over familiar flavours, and newcomers get their first taste of them. It's been named one of Discover Halifax's top cultural and foodie events, and with 25 years behind it, it's well-established as a North End summer fixture.

Admission is free, and you pay as you go for food and market items. The festival runs from Thursday, August 27, through Sunday, August 30, at the Olympic Community Centre (Olympic Hall), 2304 Hunter Street, Halifax, Nova Scotia B3K 4V6. Hours are 11 AM to 10 PM on Thursday and Friday, 10 AM to 10 PM on Saturday, and 11 AM to 7 PM on Sunday.
