Halifax-Dartmouth Natal Day Harbour Fireworks

The Halifax-Dartmouth Natal Day Harbour Fireworks go off over the water on Saturday, August 1, from 10:00 pm to 10:30 pm. It's the signature event of the Natal Day celebrations, which have brought family fun and festivities to the waterfront every year since 1895, usually running from late July through early August.

Because the display is set across the harbour, you can watch it from either the Halifax or Dartmouth waterfronts. The best view is traditionally from the Dartmouth side, with Dartmouth Ferry Terminal Park at 88 Alderney Drive being the spot most people point to as the best vantage point. If you're on the water, you'll get a front-row seat, but the shore works just as well.

It's a short, half-hour show, so you don't need to spend the whole night waiting around. If the weather doesn't play along, there's a rain date: Sunday, August 2, also at 10:00 pm. The fireworks are free, so it's an easy one to bring along friends or family without worrying about tickets. Just pick your side of the harbour and head down before the 10:00 pm start.
