Moderated conversation with Canadian authors Francesca Ekwuyasi, Michael Crummey and Naben Ruthnum, part of the Writers' Trust of Canada's 50th anniversary project.
Conversations in Trust comes to Paul O'Regan Hall at the Halifax Central Library on Thursday, October 22, at 6 p.m. It's a moderated discussion with three Canadian authors—Francesca Ekwuyasi, Michael Crummey, and Naben Ruthnum—and the whole thing is being recorded for a future broadcast on CBC IDEAS. CBC IDEAS producer Mary Lynk is moderating the conversation, so it's a live talk that'll eventually find its way onto the radio.
The three writers are all award winners. Francesca Ekwuyasi won the Dayne Ogilvie Prize for LGBTQ2S+ Emerging Writers; Michael Crummey took home the Bronwen Wallace Award for Emerging Writers; and Naben Ruthnum won the McClelland & Stewart Journey Prize. They come from different parts of the country, too: Ekwuyasi is from Nova Scotia, Crummey from Newfoundland and Labrador, and Ruthnum from Ontario.
The evening is part of Conversations in Trust, a national project marking the 50th anniversary of the Writers' Trust of Canada. The Halifax stop is staged in partnership with the Afterwords Literary Festival, and it's one leg of a four-part series that opened in Vancouver and also stopped in Calgary and Winnipeg. So this is the East Coast turn of a tour that's been working its way across the country.
