Award-winning stand-up comedy night featuring a rotating cast of Halifax comics and visiting acts at Good Robot Brewing.
Better Times Comedy runs every Thursday night at Good Robot Brewing, 2736 Robie Street, from 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm. It's a stand-up show that's been around the city for a while, and it's picked up some recognition along the way: it was named Best Comedy Night at The Coast's Best of Halifax Awards.
The format is a rotating bill of Halifax comics and visiting acts, so the line-up changes from week to week. Some names show up more often than others, though. Clare Belford, who writes for This Hour Has 22 Minutes, is a regular, and she's often joined by Dan Hendricken, Travis Lindsay and Adam Myatt. Between the local staples and the visiting comics, the bill stays fresh even if you're coming back every few weeks.
If you're planning to go, it pays to get there early. Doors open well before the show, and arriving before 7:30 pm puts you in the night's raffle. The brewery also runs a rotating C$5 tap each week, and you get 15% off food, drinks and retail—though that doesn't apply to tickets. It's the kind of night where you can hang out for a bit before the comedy kicks off.
Every week we pick 🏆 the 5 best 🏆 things to do in Halifax and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.
