Better Times Comedy runs every Thursday night at Good Robot Brewing, 2736 Robie Street, with the current season running from January 8 through December 17. It's a stand-up show that's built its following on a rotating cast of Halifax regulars and visiting comics, and it took home Best Comedy Night at The Coast's Best of Halifax Awards.
Because the line-up changes from week to week, you'll see different faces each time you go. Some nights lean on the local comics who've become staples of the Halifax scene, and others bring in visiting acts passing through the city. It's the kind of night that works just as well if you're a regular as it does if you only drop in once in a while, since the bill is always shifting.
The night doubles as a social, too. If you get there before 7:30 pm, you're in the draw for a raffle with prizes from Good Robot, Strange Adventures and Taz Records. There are bar deals running as well: a rotating tap special and 15% off food, drinks and retail.
