AIFF Outdoor returns with a special Halifax Pride Edition screening of 'Mamma Mia!' under the summer night sky, with drag icon Penny Cillin and free popcorn.
AIFF Outdoor returns to the Halifax Public Gardens on Saturday, July 25, for a special Halifax Pride Edition. It's a partnership with Halifax Pride, and the whole night is built around a sing-along: they're screening Mamma Mia! (2008), the ABBA-heavy musical with Meryl Streep, Amanda Seyfried, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth and Stellan Skarsgård. The organizers are encouraging everyone to turn up in white and blue or in full disco flair, and free popcorn will be handed out throughout the night.
Halifax drag icon Penny Cillin is back in the main event zone, bringing her energy and a touch of disco to the evening. Between the ABBA hits, the cast, and Cillin on the ground, the night leans hard into the sing-along spirit. If you're planning to go, the dress code is just a suggestion, but it's the kind of night where leaning into it is half the fun.
On the practical side, gates open at 8 PM, and the screening starts at dusk, which is estimated for 8:50 PM. The gardens are at Spring Garden Road and Summer Street (B3J 3S9), so it's right in the heart of the city. There's a rain date set for Sunday, July 26, in case the weather doesn't play along.
