Agricola Open Street Sunday

Agricola Open Street Sunday returns to Agricola Street on Sunday, September 13, from 12:00 to 4:00 pm. It's an annual Halifax tradition that hands a stretch of the city's North End over to pedestrians and cyclists for the afternoon, turning the street into a car-free community gathering space. The section closed to vehicles runs from Cunard to Almon Street, so for those four hours, the road belongs to people rather than cars.

The whole idea is to animate the city's streets and public spaces with activities, events and entertainment, and to encourage people to enjoy Halifax by walking, biking and moving around safely on the road. It's a day for getting out of the house and spending a few hours in the open air, and it's a good one to bring the kids along for. The closed section of the street fills up with live entertainment, local vendors, food trucks, games and family-friendly activities, so there's plenty to do whether you're there for the music, the food or just to hang out.

If you're a maker or a local business owner, you can get involved on the other side of things: it's free to participate as a vendor, and there's also a community yard sale you can register for. So if you've got a table of things to sell or a craft you've been wanting to show off, this is a decent chance to do it without paying for a spot. It's as much about the people setting up as it is about the people visiting.
