A theatrical play under the stars by The Villains Theatre, blending music, memory and magic, exploring themes of astronomy, identity and family.
The Villains Theatre are taking a play outdoors to Sir Sanford Fleming Park on Sunday, September 27. It's called A Beginner's Guide to the Night Sky, and as the title suggests, it's a theatrical piece performed under the stars.
The story follows LÊo, a young nonbinary person who invites the audience into their mother's observational astronomy class. It's billed as a lesson in the stars that moves through music, memory and magic, and it sets out to show what can be seen from our tiny place in the universe. The production is presented by The Villains Theatre, and they've listed it as family-friendly, French and 2SLGBTQIA.
Because it's an outdoor show, the setting does a fair bit of the work. The park is at 260 Dingle Road, and the play runs from 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm, so you'll be watching it just as the light starts to fade and the stars come out. It's a free production, and the whole thing lasts an hour, so it's a low-stakes way to spend a Sunday evening.
