The 8th Annual Halifax Salsa & Bachata Festival returns to the Halifax Waterfront from August 13 to 16, 2026. It's one of the city's biggest Afro-Latin celebrations, and this year it spreads across the waterfront, Bedford Row, and Haliente Dance Studio in downtown Halifax.
Over three nights, the festival brings together dance, music, art, and food. The programme typically includes waterfront socials, live concerts, street markets, a late-night block party, cultural showcases, and workshops. It's built for everyone from first-time dancers to seasoned performers, so you can spend your time however you like — watching from the sidelines, learning a few steps in a workshop, or getting out on the floor yourself.
The festival is billed as Atlantic Canada's premier Afro-Latin cultural celebration, rooted in movement, music, and community. That community side is a big part of it: the socials and the block party are as much about meeting people as they are about the dancing. Between the concerts and the workshops, there's a street market and cultural showcases that bring the art and food into the mix.
