Ye Vagabonds bring their harmonies and storytelling to a special concert as part of Celtic Connections, with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra.
Ye Vagabonds play the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on Thursday 28 January, as part of the Celtic Connections 2027 programme. They're an Irish folk duo led by Dublin-based brothers Diarmuid and Brían Mac Gloinn, and this is their first time bringing this particular show to Scotland. It's a big one: they'll be backed by the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, with Robert Ames conducting and Bryce Dessner on the arrangements.
The set comes on the release of their new album, All Tied Together, and the duo describe the songs as being infused with memory, tribute, gratitude and a strong sense of home. They're known for their harmonies and storytelling, and that's exactly how the night is billed — as an evening of rich harmonies and heartfelt storytelling. It's their first orchestral show since their debut with the National Symphony Orchestra Ireland, so the arrangements are the main thing here, and they're by Bryce Dessner, who's worked with a wide range of artists across folk and indie.
If you're not familiar with them, they've spent the last few years touring the world and sharing stages with the likes of Patti Smith, Hozier, Phoebe Bridgers and boygenius. They've picked up a few awards along the way, too. This is a Celtic Connections date, so it sits within the wider festival programme that runs across Glasgow throughout January.
