Glasgow indie/new wave band Walt Disco play a hometown show at King Tut's Wah Wah Hut.
Walt Disco are back at King Tut's Wah Wah Hut on Thursday 4 February, one of their regular Glasgow hometown shows. They're a Glasgow band, and they play something loosely described as indie/new wave, with a sound the NME called 'fun and theatrical, sporting eerie stage personas' and 'gnarly, gothic indie bedlam and a side order of glamour'. The live show thrives on unpredictability and glitter-fuelled chaos, so it's the kind of night that's better seen in person than read about.
Their debut album, Unlearning, came out in 2022 and picked up a fair bit of buzz, including a nomination for Best Independent Album at the AIM Awards. That record took them to Glastonbury and SXSW and earned them cultural co-signs from Charles Jeffrey and Louboutin. Their second album, The Warping, followed in 2024 and earned a second nomination for Scottish Album of the Year, so there's plenty to draw from across the two records.
There's a bit of a story behind the name, too. Drummer Jack Martin and singer Jocelyn had thought about a fresh start altogether, with Jocelyn having started HRT at the start of the year, but they ultimately decided to keep the name. They play Glasgow venues like King Tut's and Stereo regularly, so this is one of their usual local dates rather than a one-off.
