Post-punk band TV Priest headline McChuills Bar in Glasgow to support their new album 'Cartoons'.
TV Priest play McChuills Bar on Sunday 31 January, headlining the night in support of their third album, Cartoons. It's a Glasgow date on the tour for the record, which came out in 2026.
They're an English post-punk band formed in London in 2019 by four long-time friends, and the sound pulls from post-punk, indie and noise-rock. The names they cite as influences — The Fall, PiL and Stereolab — give a good sense of where they sit: the jagged, spoken-word edge of the former, the experimental sprawl of the latter, and a fair bit of indie-rock in between. Fronted by vocalist Charlie Drinkwater, they signed to Sub Pop after playing just a single live show, in an industrial freezer, before the pandemic hit. Their critically acclaimed debut Uppers arrived in 2021, followed by My Other People in 2022, and Cartoons is the third record they've put out since that first freezer gig.
McChuills Bar is more than just a pub: it's an institution and a community hub where live music was never just a way to bring in punters. Bands were valued and given a platform, you didn't have to pay to play or fit in with what was popular, and you were looked after and asked back even if you weren't packing them in. All events at the venue are 18+.
