A screening of the documentary Trine on Fire, exploring a woman's journey from arson to liberation, with a Q&A with director Alexander Lind hosted by Dr Parvinder Shergill.
Trine on Fire screens at The Social Hub on Sunday 25 October, from 7:50pm to 10:00pm. It's a documentary that follows Trine's personal journey: at 34 she set her house on fire, an act that led to a long-term stay in a forensic psychiatric hospital. Eleven years later, she's determined to begin anew and spent more than three years working with filmmaker Alexander Lind to stage a production that fearlessly explores her deepest and darkest truths, a journey she hopes will finally bring her liberation. The film is the documentary record of that process.
The screening is part of the Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival, which celebrates its 20th year in 2026. This particular showing falls under the festival's Focus on Film programme, a selection of award-winning cinema from Scotland and around the world, and it's shown as a free event. After the film, there's a Q&A with director Alexander Lind, hosted by Dr Parvinder Shergill, so you'll get to hear from the person behind the camera about how the project came together.
