Tony Hadley, the voice of the 1980s and former frontman of Spandau Ballet, celebrates swing and crooner classics, plus Spandau Ballet and festive favourites, with The Christmas Big Band Tour.
Tony Hadley brings The Christmas Big Band Tour to The Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on Sunday 29 November, with the show starting at 7:45pm. He's performing with the Fabulous TH Band and a full brass section, so it's a big-band night rather than a solo set. The set pulls from a few different places: swing and crooner classics, festive favourites, and a handful of Spandau Ballet songs reimagined as big-band numbers. Among those are 'True', 'Gold', and 'Only When You Leave' — three of the band's biggest hits given a new arrangement.
Hadley was the voice of Spandau Ballet, the band he co-founded with school friends. They went through eight top 10 UK albums and a string of number ones, and he fronted them through it all. He grew up in Islington on a diet of Frank Sinatra, and that crooning, swing style is something he's made his own. He's as much a raconteur and showman as he is a singer, and he's spent as much time offstage as on it: he was awarded an MBE in the 2019 New Year Honours for his charitable work with Shooting Star Children's Hospice, and a Gold Badge from the British Academy of Composers and Songwriters in 2005.
