Four-time Grammy nominees The Milk Carton Kids and Vera Sola perform live at The Pavilion Theatre as part of the Celtic Connections 2027 festival.
The Milk Carton Kids play The Pavilion Theatre on Sunday 17 January 2027, with Vera Sola opening. It's part of Celtic Connections 2027, so it's one of the many gigs the festival spreads across the city that January.
The duo is Kenneth Pattengale and Joey Ryan, who came together in 2011 and built their name on two guitars and two voices locked in a tight, haunting unison. For a long time, that was the whole of it: a strict minimalism that left very little to hide behind. Their seventh album, Lost Cause Lover Fool, opens things up a bit, adding roots-leaning arrangements while keeping that same twin-instrument sound at the core. Between the two of them, they've picked up four Grammy nominations over the years.
They've become fixtures in the folk community beyond the records, too. They've hosted the Americana Awards, founded the Los Angeles Folk Festival, and are as well known for their flatpicking as they are for their dry, deadpan stage wit. That last bit is a good thing to keep in mind if you're expecting a purely solemn affair — there's a fair bit of humour to the live show.
