Europe's largest indoor funfair, with more than 75 rides and games, a café and food outlets, and Autism Friendly sessions.
The IRN-BRU Carnival returns to the SEC Centre from 18 December 2026 to 10 January 2027, with the one exception of Christmas Day when it's closed. It's billed as Scotland's favourite festive family day out and Europe's largest indoor funfair, and it's been running for more than a century, so it's one of those things that's just part of the city's Christmas run.
There are more than 75 attractions under one roof, and they cover both ends of the spectrum. You've got the family-friendly stuff like the Dodgems, the Magic Mouse, Hook-a-Duck, the Penalty Shoot Out and the classic Coconut Shy, where there are prizes to be won. Then there are the thrill rides for when you've had enough of the gentle ones, and the Fun House for when you just want to run around. It's a big enough spread that you can spend a few hours there without running out of things to do.
Around the rides, there's a café and a string of food outlets serving carnival favourites like candy floss and burgers, so you don't have to leave the building to eat. The fair also runs Autism Friendly sessions, and children aged 12 and under have to be accompanied by an adult.
