A monthly programme of talks and demonstrations on quilting and patchwork, open to all skill levels from beginners to experienced sewers.
The Glasgow Gathering of Quilters are back with their monthly programme of talks at the Heart of Scotstoun Community Centre on Balmoral Street, running from September 2026 through to June 2027. It's a long stretch of dates, so if you can't make one, there's usually another just a few weeks on. The sessions run from 7pm to 9pm, with doors open from 6.45pm, and they're open to anyone interested in patchwork and quilting, from absolute beginners to experienced sewers. Visitors are welcome at every meeting.
The Gathering was set up in 2002 with a few clear goals: to promote an appreciation for the skill, art, technique and heritage of quilt making; to foster friendship and cooperation among quiltmakers locally, nationally and internationally; and to provide a social and educational forum for makers in and around Glasgow. That's a fair bit of ground to cover, and the monthly programme is how they do it. Over the course of the season, they bring in national and international speakers, run demonstrations, hold show and tell sessions, and host members' sewing days, with the occasional traders' evening mixed in. It's as much about the social side as the sewing.
