An after-hours adult event at Glasgow Science Centre exploring the hidden world of light with hands-on challenges, expert talks and a DJ.
Glasgow Science Centre is opening its doors after hours for Science Lates - Illuminate on Saturday 12 December, from 6:00 pm to 10:30 pm. It's part of their regular Science Lates series, which turns the Centre into an adults-only night out with hands-on challenges, expert encounters and talks, and a DJ to kick things off while you wander the interactive exhibits child-free.
This particular edition, Illuminate, focuses on light. The Centre describes it as a chance to step beyond human sight and uncover the hidden world of light, following the journey of a single photon as you experiment with lasers, uncover hidden colours and explore spectra and photonics. It's the same interactive setup you'd find during the day, but with the families gone and the lights down.
If you're in the mood for something a bit more focused, there's an optional add-on talk called Invisible Rainbows, given by astrophysicist and science communicator Dr Alfredo Carpineti. It's an extra £3.50 on top of your entry, so you can decide whether to stick to the exhibits or sit in for a bit of the talking side of things.

One thing to keep in mind: this is strictly for adults. It's an 18+ night, and anyone under 18 or without valid photo ID will be refused entry, so make sure you've got yours on you. Tickets are £15 per person, and the whole thing runs from 6:00 pm to 10:30 pm at the Centre, 50 Pacific Quay, G51 1EA.
