Simon Beaufoy's play about a group of unemployed men who form a male striptease act to pay the bills, presented on a national tour.
The Full Monty comes to the King's Theatre from 14 to 19 June 2027, with all performances starting at 7:30 PM. It's Simon Beaufoy's play based on the 1997 film, and it's touring as part of the movie's 25th anniversary. The production is presented by The Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham and Buxton Opera House, in association with Mark Goucher and David Pugh.
The story is one you'll likely remember: a group of unemployed men, led by Gaz, get inspired by their wives' excitement over a local Chippendales engagement and decide to put together their own dance troupe to pay the bills. They're down on their luck and determined to fight back by putting on a show — no heroes here, just ordinary men trying to get their dignity and pride back. The production is described as a fast, funny rollercoaster of ups and downs, laughs and heartbreak, and it brings back a raft of 90s hits. It's suitable for mature audiences.
On stage, Kevin Clifton plays Gaz, with Stewart Wright as Dave, James Gaddas as Gerald, Ben Onwukwe as Horse, Jon-Paul Bell as Guy, and Zrey Sholapurkar as Lomper. Michael Gyngell directs, and Ian West handles choreography and intimacy direction. Jasmine Swann is on set and costume design, Andrew Exeter on lighting, Chris Whybrow on sound, and Marc Frankum as casting director.
