A spooky afternoon with soul, disco and club classics at BAaD for Halloween, featuring live artists and high-energy beats.
Soul On Sunday is back at Barras Art And Design Centre on Sunday 25 October, this time as a Halloween day party. It's an afternoon session, running from 1pm to 6pm, so you're in and out while it's still light — plenty of time to get home before the real Halloween night kicks off.
If you've not come across it before, Soul On Sunday is a Glasgow dance event built for fans of disco, soul, R&B, hip hop and soulful house from the 70s, 80s, 90s and early 2000s. It's run by local DJs Paul Njie and Martin McCarron, who spin the records and work the room to keep people dancing from start to finish. They also book live artists, and the whole thing is billed as a high-energy, good-vibe day out. Halloween is always a big occasion on their calendar, so this is one of the dates they put a bit of extra weight behind.
The music covers a fair bit of ground, so it's not just one sound. You'll hear disco and soul from the 70s and 80s, R&B and hip hop from the 90s, and soulful house that stretches into the early 2000s. It's the kind of set that pulls from a few different decades, and since it's a day party, it's more of a social afternoon than a late-night clubber's thing. The venue is Barras Art And Design Centre (BAaD), 54 Calton Entry in the East End, G40 2SB.
